Zoom2 (Beta) Hardware and SoftwareSetup

1. Required connections
§ Connect Debug board to Zoom2.
§ Connect Ethernet/LAN cable from a Hub/switch to J72 (RJ45 connector)
§ Connect USB mini B cable provided in the box to J12 (left most USB connector), connect the other end (USB standard A)to a Windows PC
Make sure all the DIP switched on the Debug board are OFF (S2, S3, S4, S5 & S6)
2. Installing the Virtual Serial Port Driver on Windows PC
§ Connect the Power supply to J71 (power socket) to power ON the debug board and Zoom2.
§ A notification is seen on the Windows PC for new hardware detected (USB Serial Converter A)
§ Follow on-screen instructions and select to install driver “this time only”
§ Windows XP ® has the driver by default so, select “Install the software automatically (Recommended)”
§ Let the software be searched, found and installed. Then select Finish.
§ Open the Device Manager and right-click on “USB Serial Converter A”.
§ Select Properties à Advanced Tab à Load VCP
§ Click on Ok to close.
§ Remove and re-insert the power connection.
§ Now you should see new device detected – “USB Serial port”.
§ Follow on-screen instructions and select to install driver “ This time only ”
§ Windows XP ® has the driver by default so, select “Install the software automatically (Recommended)”
§ Let the software be searched, found and installed. Then select Finish.
§ 2 COM ports are now added in the Device Manager à Com Ports section. (ex. COM9 & COM10). Use the lower of the 2 new created, here COM9.
§ You may have to reboot sometimes to finish the installation (not always required)
3. Setting up the hyper terminal to read the virtual COM port.
§ Open Hyper terminal and select the Port as COM9 (as seen in Device Manager – Ports)
§ Set Baud = 115200, Data = 8bit, Parity = None, Stop = 1bit and Flow control = None
§ Insert the SD card with the boot files as mentioned in Software setup section (Point 6)
§ Push reset button on the debug board to see the u-boot traces on the hyper terminal.
§ Make sure to select the Connect Button (or press enter to connect) if you do not see the traces.
§ Press Reset button to make sure you get the traces on terminal everytime.
